Bringing Clean Energy to the Carbon Intense Parts of the Grid with Laura Zapata [Listen]

Laura Zapata is the co-founder of Clearloop, the first solar offset company in the U.S. that offers companies a way to offset their carbon footprint by turning everyday purchases into clean energy.

Typically, companies have few options to offset their carbon footprint, and the few options available are cost prohibitive. Through partnering with Clearloop, companies of all sizes can build new solar capacity to offset their products and services and expand access to clean energy across the United States. The U.S. electric grid today accounts for 25% of all U.S. emissions. By accelerating the creation of new solar projects, especially in communities in the South and Midwest who are forced to rely on fossil fuels, Clearloop seeks to amplify the power of brands to green the U.S. electric grid.

Laura Zapata made a career in crisis communications and reputation management, particularly in Congress, political campaigns, and Uber. She’s now applying that reputation lens to help companies invest in new solar projects to accelerate the greening of the grid – starting in communities that are getting left behind without access to clean energy. Laura immigrated from Colombia with her family when she was 10 years old and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee.
